Mussolini's March on Rome
(and it's influence on Germany) (oct 27, 1922 – oct 29, 1922)
Description:
In the month of October in 1922, Benito Mussolini and his political fascist party organized a coup of the Italian monarchy, telling the King to place Mussolini in power. The King of Italy, King Victor Emmanuel III, allowed Mussolini to become the Prime Minister of Italy and started the conversion of Italy into a Fascist State. Mussolini used his private army, the Blackshirts, as well as his political party in order to coerce the government into placing him in total power. This coup ended on the 29th of October.
A similar coup was attempted by the Nazi party in November of 1923 (The Beer Hall Putsch, which lasted from November 8th to November 9th), as Mussolini's fascist party was practically a blueprint for Hitler and the Nazi Party. This coup failed, however, because of the amount of people who appeared at the event ans it's influence, Hitler was put in the public eye of the German people.
