Description:
Ulrich Zwingli was ordained into the priesthood and became a parish pastor where he remained a dedicated studier of scripture. In 1518, he joined the fight for reform when he opposed the local sale of indulgences. Eventually, Zwingli announced he would no longer follow the lectionary for preaching, but instituted a program of expository preaching that followed an entire book of scripture.Added to timeline:
