Second Great Awakening (may 12, 1795 – jun 10, 1820)

Description:

"During a period of religious revivalism known as the 'Second Great Awakening,' slaves convert to Christianity in large number for the first time.

Large, strong African-American Baptist congregations were established in the South, while discrimination from church leaders led to the formation of the independent African Methodist Episcopal (AME) and AME Zion churches in the north."
