Russo-Japanese War (feb 8, 1904 – sep 5, 1905)
Description:
Cause (International): Japanese were against communism and worked in an Anglo-Japanese alliance to reduce the spread of communism from Russia.
Effect (International): Japan's victory of the war gained respect from the west and admiration from other Asian countries that copied its model with regard to modernization.
Cause (Domestic): Japan lost Southern Manchuria due to Triple Intervention, so the Japanese wanted to get back at Russia.
Effect (Domestic): Japanese claims to Korea were recognized, Russia evacuated its troops from Manchuria and returned land in southern Manchuria to China, the South Manchurian Railway was given to Japan and given the southern half of the Sakhalin Islands.
