Description:
Cause (International): Jiang was nervous about losing Chinese troops in Nanjing so he ordered all Chinese troops to evacuate Nanjing, and he even prohibited citizens from evacuating.
Effect (International): Several Chinese citizens of Nanjing suffered from rape and looting in the Nanjing Massacre.
Cause (Domestic): Marco Polo Bridge Incident prompted Konoe to kickstart a large campaign in China, coupled with supply shortages in Japanese army
Effect (Domestic): Commanding General of Central China Front Army ordered Japanese troops to capture Nanjing, resulting in several weeks of looting and burning houses and rape of citizens.
