Telangana Movmement (jun 1, 1946 – jun 1, 1951)
Description:
The revolt remained an unarmed, primarily defensive struggle against landlords from mid-1946 to August 1947. The second phase began when the Nizam refused to accede to the Indian Union after India's independence. At that point, the insurgents took up arms and their main demand became the integration of Hyderabad with India and their main enemy became the Nizam's government as a whole, not just the local landlords serving as village officials. The third phase began in September 1948 when the Indian army entered Hyderabad state, overthrew the Nizam, and incorporated the state into India.
