World War II was a conflict between 1939 and 1945 that involved all the world's major countries. It was the most destructive war in history and millions of people were killed. It was fought between Germany, Japan, and Italy and Britain, the US, and the Soviet Union among others. This war began because Adolf HIlter, leader of Germany, wanted to expand German territory. He wanted to crete his state with only certain kinds of people in it which led to the Holocaust. Germany, Japan, and Italy were eventually defeated by Britain, the US, and the Soviet Union.
