American Industrial Revolution (jan 1, 1820 – jan 1, 1870)
Description:
This is commonly referred to as the second industrial revolution on the back of the industrial revolution in Europe that began in the 18th century. One of the greatest contributors to this time period came from the Europeans and that was the invention of the steam engine. The steam engine relied on coal to power it and so the market for coal skyrocketed to run factories, railroads, and steamships. As transportation effectiveness increased so did connectivity and so too communication. The rise of large factories also increased the job market and rapid urbanization changed the face of many towns and cities.Added to timeline:
