The Agadir Crisis (apr 3, 1911 – oct 18, 1911)
Description:
France sent an army of soldiers to the African country of Morocco to stop a rebellion against the Moroccan sultan. In response, Germany sent a gunboat, the SMS Panther, to the port of Agadir to show everyone that she too had interests in Morocco. At the end of the crisis, France had given Germany some its colonies in Africa in exchange for Germany's recognition that France controlled Morocco. British opinion of Germany worsened as a result.
