Description:

This battle was fought between the British naval forces led by Admiral Andrew Cunningham, against the Italian naval forces led by Admiral Inigo Campioni. This day marked the first time in history when the first all-aircraft ship-to-ship naval attack happened. The devastation brought by the British carrier-launched aircraft on the Italian warships was the beginning of the ascendancy of naval aviation over the big guns of battleships.
