Civil War in China Funding (jan 1, 1945 – oct 1, 1949)

Description:

Between 1945 and 1949, the U.S. provided support, in over $2 billion to support Jiang Jieshi's army of Nationalists, who were waging war against the Communist forces of Mao Zedong. Deciding that it was no longer worth it, as the Communist forces were winning, Truman stopped funding the aid. It was determined that if the U.S. had intervened militarily, they might have won, but instead the communists won. This would cause the U.S. to not back down so easily in the future in the face of communism, especially in the upcoming Korean War.
