French Revolution & Napoleonic era (1789-1815) (jan 1, 1789 – jan 1, 1815)

Description:

In the years 1789 to 1815 the largest societal change happened in europe with the start of the french revolution and Napoleonic era and the Napoleonic wars. The French revolution was started due to and outdated tax system, and unreliable leader (louis XVI). all of this, plus famine and drought and a few hash winter drove the french public to follow ideas from maximilien robespierre and have a revolution, in many moments the revolution turned sour and became a bloodbath but the revolution provided us with some of the most important documents for modern day liberal thought such as “The Declaration of the rights of man and of the citizen” .This was a fundamental document in securing individual freedoms. Napoleon's involvement in the revolution was mostly because of his military background and his amazing ability to lead and fight. Napoleon contributed many things such as: 1795, Napoleon helped suppress a royalist insurrection against the revolutionary government in Paris, In 1796, Napoleon commanded a French army that defeated one of the armies of Austria, 1795, Napoleon’s troops scored a victory against Egypt’s military rulers to cut off british trade. Napoleon also did a fair portion of reform post revolutionary France, such as: He centralized the government, instituted reforms in banking and education. He supported science and art. He sought to improve relations between his regime and the pope.
