Decian Persecution (jan 1, 250 – jan 1, 251)
Description:
The Decian Persecution marked the turning point from local, sporadic persecution to empire-wide. During this time, Decius issued an edict of universal sacrifice, and those who performed rite were issued a libellus and kept safe. During this persecution Fabian, bishop of Rome, was executed and Origen died from torture.
