Opposing and Political Parties (23h 59min, sep 16, 1787 y – 0h 16min, sep 17, 1796 y)

Description:

When the Constitution was first signed, people started having different opinions about it and it made people split into different groups of people with the same opinion. (People usually band together with others who have the same opinion

Around 1796 is when the supporters of Thomas Jefferson & Alexander Hamilton started to form the first political parties

President Washington warned of these parties, saying that they would divide the nation and people also thought that they were bad for a good government

Even the Cabinet and government disagreed on many important topics, each choosing something they favor, and because of all this conflict the people, government, and congress started the basis for two different political parties

The Federalists party was led by Alexander Hamilton: They favored a strong federal government, and believed the Constitution gave government “implied powers”

The Democratic-Republicans (Republicans) was a party led by both Thomas Jefferson and James Madison: They believed in a very strict reading of the Constitution, and rejected the Federalists idea of implied powers, they believed that congressional powers were limited to what is necessary to carry out the enumerated powers

People in modern time still have these parties know as Republicans and Democrats, and another called “Independents” who don’t favor a party

There are also more lesser know parties such as: Reform, Libertarian, Socialist, Natural Law, Constitution, and Green Parties
