The Aztec Empire (jan 1, 1100 – jan 1, 1521)

Description:

In the early 12th century, A group of people called the Aztecs travelled to mexico and started the Aztec empire. These people are highly influential in todays society as they discovered many foods and spices still used today. Like chocolate. These people were originally nomads who roamed around central America but in 1100, they left their homeland and travelled southwards.
When they reached mexico, they built great temples and celebrated their gods in various forms.
They also had a rich culture and beliefs. One of their traditions involved sacrificing animals and humans alike, all to please the gods.
Their empire continued strong up until the spanish conquests of America, when western diseases they had no immunity to ravaged their community. Their final downfall was in 1521 when the spanish forces defeated their weakened army.
