Description:

From 794 to 1867 Japan was ruled by a series of harsh military leaders known as the shoguns. For hundreds of years Japan was a place when military dictatorship reached a all time high and power shifted slowly from the emperor towards the army.
The way society was structured was not that different to medieval Europe. Common people paid taxes to their local lords and your role in society was often biased off your birth.
Within the shoguns rule their where many important events. The most noteworthy of these being the Heian period. This is considered the golden age in Japanese culture as many advancements where made in architecture, art and poetry.
