Khmer Empire Classic Period (jan 1, 802 – aug 1, 1327)
Description:
This was a time when great buildings like the Angkor Wat where built and religion was the core of life. The empires army was also an imposing force. At the peak of its dominance, the Khmer empire covered Cambodia, parts of Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. The reason for their dominance was not to do with brute force though. The empire where great builders creating highways that often spanned 800 kilometres long, temples that stood proud to this day and huge reservoirs called baray with both a inlet and outlet control structures .
