while he was only prime minister for 2 years, he virtually held the reigns of parliament for around 40 years in key govt positions through the 18th century. he more or less controlled the war effort
used military campaigns to establish favourable trade, especially in the slave trade. Their family governed the East India Company
Widely considered to have created the british empire.
