-demanded inflation through free + unlimited coinage at rate of 16 ounces of silver to 1 ounce of gold

-graduated income tax, gov ownership of railroads, telegraph, telephone

-direct election of senators, 1 term limit on presidency

-adoption of allowing citizens to shape legislation directly

-shorter work day, immigration restriction

-northerners non influential, southerners racist against 1+ million southern black farmers swayed by populist party, aggressive assault on Black suffrage

-led to party becoming segregationist
