Period 6- The Gilded Age (jan 1, 1869 – dec 31, 1898)
Description:
Marked by political corruption and the Era of Good Stealings, much of the politics in the Gilded Age was less about party disagreements over policy than it was party loyalty and patronage. Industrial Capitalism as captains of industry, also known as Robber Barons rose to the forefront of the Railroad, Oil, Steel, and Electricity fronts. Family structures changed resultingly with greater jobs for women and more movement to big cities. A wave of New Immigrants ensured during this time and additionally acts excluding Chinese immigrants (not considered new immigrants) as part of a new rise in nativism. Families became smaller and moratality reduced as the United STates entered a new high of life quality and became the whittler of the world.
