Description:
On 11 November, at 05h20 in the morning, at Rethondes (near Compiègne, north of Paris), in General Foch's carriage, a German delegation, with the agreement of the new government in Berlin, signed the armistice.
At 11 a.m. sharp, the ceasefire came into effect. The First World War was over.
