Encampment at Valley Forge (dec 1, 1777 – jun 1, 1778)
Description:
(Term 2 Event) The American army led by George Washington camped in Valley Forge for the winter. They suffered greatly from lack of supplies and many men died.
1. Those who had the will to continue came out stronger than they were before.
2. Teaches us that difficult trials will inevitably come upon us, but that we must learn to endure and not give up like Washington's men did.
3. This experience united the men and helped them gain more respect for one another. Washington was greatly impressed by how they dealt with their pain.
4. Helped them look to God for peace and guidance. Washington himself prayed often for help and guidance from the Lord.
