Heliocentric model (jan 1, 500 BC – jan 1, 1560)
Description:
Fact 1: the Greek philosophers Philolaus and Hicetas speculated separately that the Earth was a sphere revolving daily around some mystical “central fire” but everyone thought it was geocentric so they ignored them
Fact 2: It wasn't until the 16th century that a scientist named Nicolaus Copernicus used mathematical models to propose a heliocentric model of the solar system, showing that it was actually Earth revolving around the sun.
