Antonin Dvorak (jan 1, 1847 – jan 1, 1904)

Description:

Antonin Dvorak was a protege of Brahms who excelled in the symphony, chamber music, opera, and symphonic poems. Dvorak sometimes alludes to flk songs and dances, including some Slavic elements in his works. During his years living in the United States, he composed his Symphony in E Minor (“From the New World”), which is often heard as evoking African American music. Dvorak uged American composers to create their own nationalist music by turning to Native American and African American sources. Instead, many Americans turned to their own ethnic heritages.
