Northwest Ordinance (jul 13, 1787 – jul 13, 1787)
Description:
On July 13, 1787, Congress passed the Northwest Ordinance that helped to organize the settlement of the Northwest Territory as well as provide guidelines for becoming future states. The ordinance did not allow for slavery in this territory. (Congress Enacts the Northwest Ordinance, 2009.)
