Kansas-Nebraska Act (jan 4, 1854 – jan 4, 1854)
Description:
The Kansas-Nebraska Act was signed in 1854 created the Kansas and Nebraska Territories.
It also required that popular vote within a new state decide whether or not the state would allow slavery. The overturned the geographical free/slave line established in the Missouri Compromise. (Kansas-Nebraska Act, 2009.)
