People deported to Auschwitz (jan 1, 1940 – jan 25, 1945)

Description:

It is estimated that the SS and police deported at least 1.3 million people to the Auschwitz complex between 1940 and 1945. Of these, the camp authorities murdered approximately 1.1 million. This camp was not first used as a killing center and was actually used as a labor camp. Later during the war this would turn into a concentraction camp were both people worked and were killed.
