Teacher of Zarlino, who referred to Wilaert as the "new Pythagoras." His music exemplified the Ars Perfecta style without having idiosyncracies of other composers.
Extremely important teacher of Italians, including Andrea Gabrielli, which led to Italy being the great training center for musicians.
