John Dunstable (jan 1, 1390 – jan 1, 1453)
Description:
English composer. Shows a preference for "Sweet" sonorities (particularly the interval of a third) and clear text declamation. This Ënglish guise" (la contenance angloise) stood in marked contrast to the complexity associated with the Ars Subtilior.
Famous works: "Quam pulchra es" for three voices, which contains many thirds (sweet harmony), and an "extreme control of dissonance"
