XVIII century (jan 1, 1700 – jan 1, 1800)

Description:

The first attempts to compare the microstructure of plant and animal cells were made in the 18th century. KF Wolf attempts to compare the formation of the microscopic structure of plants and animals in his work "Theory of Origin" (1759). According to Wolff, the embryo grows from a structureless substance in which movements generate channels (vessels) and voids (cells). Wolf's factual findings were misconstrued, and he did not bring fresh knowledge to what 17th century microscopists already knew. His theoretical views, on the other hand, foreshadowed the principles of future cell theory.
