Description:
An English chess player and author, nowadays best known for the Lewis Counter-gambit.
He may have been the first player ever described as a Grandmaster of the game.
Lewis had a career as an author and translated the works of Gioachino Greco in 1819 and Pietro Carrera in 1822.
