Description:
German Physiologist-Worked alongside Gustav Fritsch in studying the effects of the electrical stimulation (sensation compared to a soft lick) of various areas in the cortex
-Provided evidence supporting localization by identifying several motor centers in the front half of the brain, all within mm's of each other
-Stimulation of these areas produced consistent movements:
Area 1: neck
Area 2: anterior leg (extension)
Area 3: anterior leg (flexion)
Area 4: posterior leg
Area 5: face
-Localization --> identifying specific brain area functions became known as "New Phrenology" or "Scientific Phrenology"
