The Steel Strike (sep 22, 1919 – jan 8, 1920)
Description:
This was a walkout by the workers represented by the American Federation of Labor. The strike was a result of the U.S. Steel refusing to negotiate and recognize the steel union. The union would try to organize workers in the tin industry, but a wave of industry consolidations left the union against the giant U.S. Steel corporation. It ended in a huge failure. There was a lot of ethnic and racial tensions in this time.
