In Northern Europe around 1356-1668, the Hanseatic league was formed by north German towns and German merchants communities to protect their mutual trading interests. They gained so much power that they would often impose economic blockades, enforce their policies on other groups and in severe cases wage war, which caused lots of issues with the Danes.Added to timeline:
