William Penn (jan 1, 1644 – jan 1, 1718)
Description:
Follower of George Fox and the Quakers. He argued for religious tolerance. Purchased what is now called Pennsylvania to establish religious tolerance (which was almost unheard of in the colonies of the day). This "holy experiment" paved the way for the writing of the US Constitution. Similar to Roger Williams' Rhode Island
