Second Great Awakening (jan 1, 1795 – jan 1, 1835)
Description:
Heavily influenced by American Revolutionary Period. Began with Timothy Dwight (Johnathan Edwards' grandson). Awakening began Calvinistic with an emphasis on regeneration. Later flavored with anti-authoritarianism and anti-intellectualism as it spread west.
Caused reform movements including the temperance, mission, anti-slavery, and feminist movements.
