Ulrich Zwingli Sw (jan 1, 1484 – jan 1, 1531)
Description:
Swiss Reformer. Moved to Zürich in 1518. Influenced by patriotism and humanism. Emphasized return to NT practices. More radical reformer compared to Luther's conservatism. Key distinction with Luther was over communion. Argued for the regulative principle (contra Luther's looser normative principle convictions). Anabaptists separated from Zwingli since he wasn't radical enough. Killed by Catholic cantons who invaded Zürich.
