English Reformation (jan 1, 1534 – jan 1, 1689)
Description:
Very different from Reformation in other countries. Began as a political movement rather than theological. Initiated by Henry VIII. Theological emphases came through Puritans following Calvin.
English Reformation contained nationalistic elements of Lutheran reformation, theological and moral elements of Calvinist reformation, leveling elements of Anabaptist reformation, and inquisitionary elements of Catholic reformation.
