Hebrews (jan 1, 2000 BC – jan 1, 63 BC)
Description:
The Hebrews were Semitic people who were ancestors of the Jews. From Ur in Mesopotamia, they migrated to Canaan (modern Israel). They were led by Abraham to the land that God promised them. Aside from the Promised Land, God committed to Abraham a son with his wife Sarah. They were blessed with a son, Isaac. Isaac then had a son named Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel (meaning “God contented”) after passing God’s test. He had 12 sons, who started the so-called 12 tribes of Israel.
