French and Indian War (jul 1, 1754 – jul 1, 1763)
Description:
(Term 1 Event) This was a 9 year long war that put the French and their Indian allies against the British empire and the colonies of central America. They were fighting over control of colonial territory in North America.1. Helped unite the colonies and gave them one purpose to fight for.
2. Gave George Washington valuable experience in battle that he would have to use later in the revolutionary war.
3. Prepared the colonies for the revolutionary war which would soon follow.
4. Increased their amount of land so that the colonists could expand westward.
