Philip II (Philip the Handsome) (jan 1, 1494 – sep 30, 1506)

Description:

Philip II was the titular lord of the Burgundian Netherlands after his mother's death when he was four years old. His father, Maximilian I, was the regent until he reached of age to rule. He was married to Joanna, the second daughter of Queen Isabell I of Castile and King Ferdinand II of Aragon. Because of that marriage, Philip was able to lay claim to the Spanish crown for a small time before his death. Additionally, Philip was able to greatly enlarge the territories of the Habsburgs and his descendants would be greatly influential in the coming centuries in Euoropean politics.
