Vietnam War* (nov 1, 1955 – apr 30, 1975)
Description:
The Vietnam War was started as Northern Vietnam tried to reunite the country under communist rule. Due to the duty to the Truman doctrine, and the fact that Americans were worried about Southeastern Asia being dominated with communist agendas, the US began sending support to Southern Vietnam. At the same time, Russia was sending support to Northern Vietnam, so the whole situation turned into a proxy war between the US and Russia. When losing resources and soldiers in southern Vietnam, the US made a plan to invade northern Vietnam, but China threatened to declare war on the US if they did. (Similar to their tactic during the Korean War)
