Reliquary figure (byeri) (Africa) (jan 1, 1900 – jan 1, 1900)
Description:
- Created by the Fang people in southern Cameroon- Material used was wood
- The purpose of this was to avert evil or ill intended spirits from the remains that they're protecting. Was meant to be sat upon reliquaries which normally contained skulls and bones of important people within society.
