Description:
- Inspired by Malcom X, who was frustrated by slow progress through non-violent protests led by MLK.
- Encouraged African-Americans to achieve racial pride and freedom from discrimination using "any means necessary" (including violence)
- Movement was characterised by a black raised fist (displayed by two US olympians in 1968)
- Movement spawned violent groups such as "Black Panther Party"
