Bundu Mask 19th-20th century CE (Africa) (jan 1, 1800 – jan 1, 1900)

Description:

- Made in the West African forest of Sierra Leone
- Made by the Sande society (females) of the Mende peoples
- Made up of wood, fiber, and cloth
- The mask often had small, slit eyes and complex hair that can be made into multiple forms. The mask was meant to represent Sowei, the water spirit, which is why the mask had a shiny surface.
