Buk Mask Mid to late 19th century CE (Pacific) (jan 1, 1850 – jan 1, 1900)

Description:

- Mabuiag Island, Australia (Torres Strait)
- Made by the Mabuiag peoples
- Consisted of a turtle shell, fibers, cassowary feathers, resin, and paint
- Mask was split into three parts: the human face, the bird, and the feathers adorned on top of all of this. The mask combined humanistic and animalistic traits and was used as part of a costume.
- Was to be used during religious ceremonies
