Indian Council Act of 1892 (jan 1, 1892 – dec 31, 1892)

Description:

- The number of Additional members ithe n Imperial Legislative Council and Provincial Legislative Council was raised. In ILC, now the G-G could have 10-16 non-official members
- Numbers of non-officials in **Central and Provincial legislative councils** increased but the **majority of officials retained**

- Principle of Representation --> enabling universities, district boars, municipalities, zamindars, trade bodies, and chamber of commerce to recommend members to the provincial council
- The concept of ***In-Direct elections*** was introduced for non-officials, although the term Elections was firmly avoided

- Members of legislators can put questions to the executives within certain limits by giving notice of 6 days
- Members of legislators can express their views on financial statements although can't vote for the same. The budget was introduced in the Central Legislative Council in 1860. Non-official discussions started in 1892.
