The Spanish Flu (feb 18, 1918 – apr 10, 1920)

Description:

The Spanish flu (also known as influenza) is mistaken to have started in Spain but is uncommonly known to have started in Kansas. It is only called the Spanish flu because Spain was the first to write about it and put it in the newspaper. When the flu began it was abhorrent and it spread extremely rapidly. Every state that got it decided that they didn't want to worry their people and cause chaos, so when it reached Europe, Spain became the first to talk about it. They explained it in the newspaper for everyone to see and yes, it did cause chaos, but it was much better for the people to know what was really ailing them. Therefore, it is called the Spanish flu.
