Description:

Religious beliefs and the response to U.S annexation over Texas created an idea called Manifest Destiny. They thought it was a god-given mission to expand their territories westward and become an example to the world. This philosopical idea lead to a rapid expansion of U.S territories and caused dispute over free and slave states that lead to the civil war.
