Cahokia Civilization (jan 1, 1200 – jan 1, 1350)

Description:

(Pre 1200-1350) It was located near the Mississippi River. There was lots of fertile soil, and there were nearby forests for hunting and gathering. It's population was about 20,000 in its high point around 1100-1150 A.D. There was a huge mound at the center of the city, with more than 100 smaller mounds surrounding the center. It is a theory that the civilization declined due to changes in climate, causing drought.
